About Your Host
Jeannette Sirois is a full-time visual artist based in Salt Spring Island with over 15 years of experience creating large-scale, mixed-media portrait drawings. Known for her meticulous use of coloured pencils and a balance of minimalism and hyper-realism, her work explores complex social themes such as identity, mental health, homophobia, and racism. Her art has been exhibited across Canada and the United States, including recognition at the Kingston National Prize, and can be found in private and public collections. Jeannette’s practice is deeply rooted in fostering dialogue and connection, using her art as a tool to address challenging subjects with compassion and precision. Dedicated to mentorship, she supports emerging artists in developing their skills and voices. Through her commitment to craftsmanship and storytelling, Jeannette continues to push the boundaries of contemporary drawing with colour.
