Oil Painting in Stages with James Jennings
Winsor & Newton AmbassadorAbout This Experience
James Jennings will discuss raw umber sketching and monochromatic underpainting for skin tones at this demo. He will show how to identify the light and shadow of the underpainting using Titanium White with Winsor & Newton Liquin Impasto as his medium. This will provide a rich skin texture and solid base for glazing colour over skin. The effects of establishing light using impasto create a unique depth within a painting. This is a traditional technique that resembles a process Caravaggio may have used.
