Speedball DIAZO Photo Emulsion is part of a two-part system for applying a light-sensitive coating to silkscreen prints.
Mix DIAZO Photo Emulsion with DIAZO Sensitizer to create a light-sensitive coating for silkscreens. Once applied and dry, the emulsion can then be covered with a transparent film or plate bearing the design transferred to it in an opaque medium. Timed exposure to a light source causes the uncovered areas to harden. When the screen is washed with cold water, the unexposed areas wash out, and the hardened areas remain. This method can be used to transfer designs based on anything from hand drawing and painting, to photographs or computer created designs. To work properly, the emulsion must be mixed with an activating chemical – a sensitizer – before application to the screen. Cured emulsion can be removed from the screen by applying DIAZO Emulsion Remover, and scrubbing with a brush and hot water.
