Join us in-person on July 1, 2023 for the Opus Plein Air Challenge!
Along with the other 2 ways to participate in the Opus Plein Air Challenge this year, this 1-day challenge (formerly known as the Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge) is our longest running component of the event. Over the last 10 years, we have held this challenge to launch plein air season and inspire the community to come together and create outdoors.
Of course, it's always a blast! With lots of prizes from our generous sponsors, this event is fun for all ages and skill levels.
Join the team from your favourite Opus Location this July 1st from 12:00pm to 3:30pm! Most events will be hosted at the Opus store or in the nearby communities holiday celebrations. Check below for specific location details.
What to expect
Prepare for a day of fun-filled creativity!
Start by picking up a free canvas panel from the event host table (while quantities last). Bring your own supplies bring them, or shop for any last minute items you may need to create your plein air piece.
Next, find a inspiring location nearby with a view you'd like to challenge yourself to capture. Find something that will push your skill level - there's no pressure to finish your artwork the same day, but there will be a display of the artworks from the day at the end of the event.
Watch the clock! You'll want to return to the host table with your finished (or unfinished) artwork before the time indicated to enter to WIN prizes from our sponsors. Stores will have display walls set up so you can show your creation and share your experience with the other participants.
At the end of the event, our team will draw names for prizes! Gather round, and enjoy!
For extra prize draw entries, share photos and tell us about your Opus Plein Air Challenge experience on Instagram along with the hashtag #OpusPleinAirChallenge. Instagram entries will show up in our Opus Plein Air Challenge Virtual Gallery, and will be drawn after the event closes on July 15, 2023.
Note: Pre-registration is not required for this event. Just show up on the day with your supplies. ☺️
