About This Experience

Join us for a captivating watercolour demonstration with Sonia Mocnik. The demonstration will focus on the vibrant Mahonia, a common plant in the Pacific Northwest known as Oregon Grape. Discover how its waxy leaves beautifully capture raindrops and showcase a range of colours.

Sonia will guide participants through key aspects of colour mixing, including creating greens from phthalo and yellow and complementary greys and purples. Participants will also learn glazing techniques to build tonal depth and how to preserve whites using masking fluid and gel pens.

The session will also cover brush techniques, emphasizing different sizes for washes and details, achieving shadow effects with neutral tint and complementary colours, and manipulating brush strokes for realistic leaf effects.

Participants will gain control over their medium with tips on using water and blotting brushes and receive recommendations for ceramic and metal mixing trays to enhance colour mixing.  Join us for some colourful inspiration and tips and tricks for your art practice!
