Watercolours Portraits with Lorraine Simonds
Winsor & Newton Professional WatercoloursAbout This Experience
Join award-winning watercolour artist Lorraine Simonds for a live portrait demonstration exploring watercolour's expressive and unpredictable nature. In this loose, intuitive approach, Lorraine will paint a portrait through bold washes, fluid transitions, and atmospheric layering. Attendees will gain insight into embracing spontaneity, letting go of overworking, and harnessing the natural flow of pigment and water to create luminous, emotive portraits.
This demo is perfect for artists looking to break free from rigid outlines and develop a more organic, expressive painting style. Lorraine will also share tips on colour harmony, brush control, and the power of lost and found edges to create depth and movement. Whether new to portrait painting or looking to loosen up your approach, this session will encourage you to trust the process, make bold choices, and let the medium guide you.
