Painting Realistic Fur with Kelly Baskin
Princeton Brushes & Arches PaperAbout This Experience
Ready to bring fur to life in your oil paintings?
Join Kelly for a demo exploring how to capture the soft, scruffy, and everything-in-between animal fur textures with confidence and control. We’ll break down essential techniques for painting both short—and long-haired fur using a variety of brush shapes and strokes. The warm-up session will focus on colour mixing and the importance of colour temperature.
Whether you’re painting pets or wildlife, you’ll leave with practical skills in brush handling, layering, and colour strategy to make your fur paintings feel natural, dimensional, and expressive.
This session is ideal for intermediate oil painters or adventurous beginners who want to improve their animal painting skills.
