Williamsburg Neutral Grays Set allows artists to create full-value grisaille paintings with the addition of black and white. Color can then be applied to the grisaille, either full strength or as desaturated color after mixing them with these grays. Williamsburg Oil colors each have an assigned value that can either be maintained when that color is mixed with the corresponding value of neutral gray or shifted to a lighter or darker value.

  • 4 – 37 ml Neutral Grays that match the Munsell values
  • Ground in alkali-refined linseed oil and using a combination of Titanium White, Lamp Black, and small touches of various iron oxides (Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna) to pull the otherwise too-cool mixtures back towards neutral

Fantastic!

Absolutely love anything Williamsburg. The neutral grey set has been an asset to my latest work in helping me maintain consistency in the value of the colours I’m using. They’re also great for neutralizing a rather fancy colour when you need it (I always do) and on they’re own they’re great additions to my pallet whether its in the rock detail or a subtle contour in the snow.
