  • 100% linen, clear-primed
  • 8 oz / 270 gsm linen (7.5 oz / 260 gsm pre-primed)
  • Medium textured weave
  • Professionally stretched
  • 1½" deep heavy-duty pine bars
  • Reinforced with cross-braces and gussets

This linen canvas is ready to paint with acrylics. We recommend at least two additional coats of Opus Essential Gesso when painting with oils.

A great canvas

A great canvas. This was my first time using clear gessoed linen, and I was impressed. Only one layer of oil paint provided full coverage, whereas toned white gessoed canvas usually requires two layers of my application to be opaquely covered.

I am about to use Gamblin oil painting ground on your pre-primed linen, but realized I should ask, what is the linen pre-primed with? is it a sizing that I can use Gamblin's oil painting ground on?

Hi janine, it is pre-primed with a clear acrylic gesso-- I recommend priming it again if you are using oil, as that will help prevent the mediums from deteriorating the linen! But once you have primed it again you should definitely be able to use Gamblin painting ground on the acrylic gesso.
