Opus Exhibition Wood Cradled Panels provide an excellent surface for painting in oils or acrylics, mixed media, collages and even watercolours and pastels. Just prepare your panel with the ground best suited to your media. These panels are especially good for any medium requiring a rigid support, and offer a striking alternative to works of art on canvas.
These Canadian-made panels are crafted from basswood stretcher bars, measuring 1½″ deep, and a Russian birch painting surface.

I’ve bought many of these cradled panels through the years and never had a problem with them. For the price, they can’t be beat. I appreciate the many sizes available with my current favs bring the 24x12” cradled panels. My only beef is that there are not many choices of the already primed panels. Already primed cradled panels would save prep time. My work is mainly coloured pencil on wood. Evenly primed surfaces are a requirement for working with pencils and having access to them in a 24x12 would be appreciated. Thank you for the opportunity to give feedback.

Always my favorite surface for painting
I love painting on wood panels. I use a clear gesso or a white gesso. It provides a firm surface that allows me to paint the way I like to paint. Quality product. I just wish there was more selection of sizes.

These are my go to panels... I have tried gessoing them first but find the natural birch surface more conducive to my mixed media collage based paintings. They are well constructed and affordable!
Great surfaces if you need to work on hard surfaces. I use them to glue finished works on paper or from canvas pads. Sides can be painted or use clear coat to protect raw wood. Acceptable presentation without framing for gallery requirements.
Very expensive..if the price for these came down a little I’d be happy
Excellent medium to work on, sturdy and good weight!
These are strong enough to take a beating from many medias. Great for encaustic painting. I have even done Cyanotypes on them and they took a good final washing in water without warping.
I love Opus because the staff is so friendly, and knowledgeable. I always find what I need at Opus or they get it for me.....
I bought these to mount my watercolour paper too. They are wonderful. They are sturdy and have a great weight to them at the same time.

I love using these wood panels. I feel like my art will last hundred’s of years on wood rather that canvas. I have no idea if that is true or not, but it just feels that way.
I use these wood panels regularly and like them for mounting work on paper to or painting directly onto. The hard surface allows for heavy paint and medium application.
