About the product

Lascaux Acrylic Gesso - 500ml

Lascaux Gesso (Acrylic Primer / Ground)

If you want a clean, dependable ground that grabs paint beautifully, Lascaux Gesso is a studio staple. It lays down a pure white, matte surface with a good tooth—semi-absorbent so it takes acrylic, oils, watercolour, and tempera with confidence. It dries quickly into an elastic, durable film with excellent adhesion, making it a solid choice for everyday priming and surface prep.

It’s also highly concentrated and economical—you don’t need much to get a professional ground—and it can be tinted with acrylic colour to set the tone of a painting from the first layer. Bonus: it’s easily grindable once dry for artists who like to refine their surface.

Key features:

  • Semi-absorbent acrylic ground

  • Pure white, matte finish with good tooth

  • Quick-drying, elastic film

  • Lightfast, age-resistant

  • Excellent adhesion

  • Economical coverage: approx. 50–100 ml/m²

  • Water-dilutable + tintable with acrylic colours

  • Easily grindable once dry

Use & application:
For absorbent substrates: canvas, textiles, paper, cardboard, fabrics, fair-faced concrete, synthetics, wood
Compatible with acrylic, oil, watercolour, and tempera
Dilute with water: approx. 10–20% (follow label instructions)
