Colour

Handmade in Japan, Kitakata is a smooth, lightweight paper made with 100% Gampi. Gampi fibres have a natural sheen and are often used for making thin tissues.

Kitakata paper has a neutral pH, 4 deckles, and is 30 gsm in weight. It is ideal for use as a conservation tissue in bookmaking projects or in the chine colle printmaking process.

Kitakata Review

I have been using Kitakata for chine colle in printmaking. I like how strong it is, even when it is quite wet or when it has adhesive on it. It doesn't pull apart when it comes out of the press and is pulled away from the plate. Wish it came in a bit more colours. A light blue would be nice.
