Dorland’s Wax Medium is a compound of waxes, pure fossil earth, resins and oil. It appears milky in the container, but provides a clear, non-yellowing finish on a myriad of surfaces, and is an excellent vehicle for paints and pigments. Artists have found it useful for a wide variety of techniques in oil painting, cold and hot wax painting, mixed media applications, finishing paintings, sealing photos, polishing fine wooden furniture and artifacts, scrapbooking, and more. It imparts luminosity and clarity to paint films and finishes.

Smooth and Creamy

Using cold wax in my oil painting to make the paint thicker and to have a matte finish. I also use the wax as a varnish and the plastic container allows me to put it into the microwave to soften it up to ensure a more fluid medium. Very little smell. Slightly cheaper than a competing manufacturer.

Goes on smoothly, dries and buffs nicely, gives a beautiful deep luster to watercolour. Very expensive. Glad I only need it now and then.
