About the product

Hake Brushes

The Hake Brush is a traditional flat wash brush with tied construction (the hairs are sewn between flat wood sections; no metal ferrule). The hairs are very soft white goat hair. They hold a lot of paint, and cover plenty of ground without costing a lot of money.

These natural bristle brushes excel at blending oils and watercolors, hold substantial water, and perform well for wide area application. Customers praised their effectiveness for encaustic painting as "natural bristles don't melt." However, some noted significant bristle shedding and difficulty finding wide containers for wetting.

  • Awesome blending brush for oils
  • Hold lots of water and performs well
  • Our students and instructors are loving them!

Hold lots of water and performs well. The challenge was finding a wide enough bucket to hold water to wet it

Natural bristles don't melt

Encaustic is a little warm for synthetic bristles. Wide brushes help lay down wide areas evenly.

I love the blending quality of the Hake brushes but hate the amount of shedding of hairs on my paintings after using it
