GOLDEN Artist Colors
GOLDEN OPEN AcrylicsSelect from 40 colours
Increase your working time with these slow-drying acrylics, designed specially for working outdoors.
GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics have a unique and relaxed set of working characteristics, expanding the range and techniques possible for acrylic artists. OPEN Acrylics remain wet for much longer than regular acrylics, expanding the time artists have for blending, softening, shading, glazing, and applying fine detail.
The drying time varies on how thickly the paint is applied: thick applications can dry extremely slowly, allowing you to work on your piece for hours. Drying time can be accelerated by mixing OPEN with standard acrylics, or acrylic mediums. Painters can cover their palettes or use sealed containers to use their OPEN Acrylics for more than a single painting session, reducing the amount of paint wasted, and preserving unique colour mixtures.
Use these paints with both synthetic and natural fibres, and expand your range of working options and finishes with OPEN Mediums. Ideal for use with plein air painting, portraiture, monoprinting, and screenprinting.

I have really embraced these acrylics. I find that I can achieve the same effects and hues as with oils. Their workability and additional drying time factors into my painting style seamlessly.
Buttery, good colour load, slow drying, workable with or without mediums. Great oil alternative.
I used to use oil paints, but switched to acrylics when I no longer had studio space. I got used to painting in acrylics, but missed spending time mixing a color pallet. I bought the Golden OPEN landscape set, and I love them. Now I can spend more time mixing my colors, can step away for short periods of time and come back to it. They have all of the benefits of acrylic being easily cleaned up with soap and water, no smell, still dry relatively quickly when spread out on a paint surface, just with less race against time with colors drying out on your pallet.
My go to acrylics! They stay usable on my palette for days and make painting/blending much easier. Highly recommend.
