Aqueous solution of Kama Pigments' dry gum Arabic. Concentration 34.2% (by mass) This product is mostly used for preparing watercolors.
In painting gum Arabic is the traditional binder of watercolor and gouache. It can also be used in liquid solutions as painting medium or as a constituent in the manufacture of traditional dry pastels, although gum tragacanth is primarily used. A diluted solution of gum Arabic may also be used as a fixative for dry pastel or charcoal.
Usage Instruction:
Mix our gum Arabic solution directly with dry pigments to prepare your own watercolours. The proportion of solution to use as a binder will vary depending on the pigments and desired finish, the more gum Arabic solution you use; the shinier the watercolor will be when dried. As a starting point, you can start by incorporating the solution at about 40% of the pigment volume and adjust thereafter. If your pigments do not mix easily, if they tend to float on the surface of the solution, or if they are organic pigments, you will first need to wet them with isopropyl alcohol or a mixture of alcohol-water to create a paste that can then be mixed into solution. You can also add to the mixture the traditional additives of the watercolor technique according to your preferences: glycerin, honey, ox gall, etc.
Aqua-dispersion pigments can also be used to replace dry pigments; however, in this case, the watercolor will be more liquid.
Our solution already contains a preservative, so it is not necessary to add one, however we, for optimal results, we advise you to use distilled water.
