Artist oil colors praised for "excellent quality" and "beautiful translucent quality." Customers said colors are "always consistent in colour and texture" with a "creamy consistency and buttery application." Great for mixing custom colors and landscapes. However, some noted cost is high, making it less accessible.

  • A true ultramarine blue with a beautiful translucent quality when applied thinly.
  • Excellent quality.
  • Always consistent in their colour and texture.

Peter Spohn’s, use of Gamblin oil paints. .

Gamblin makes excellent oil paints. The Portland greys can be very helpful in moderating both temperature and value. I use the expensive cerulean blue liberally mixing it with cadmium orange to make warm greys.

Two of my favorite products are found at Opus: Golden Hi-flow acrylics, which I use for the airbrush portion of my paintings, and Gamblin oils, which is the subject of this review. I found the creamy consistency and buttery application of the paint makes it a pleasure to use, either by brush or troweling it on with a palette knife.
Video clips of how I use this paint can be watched on instagram, @jamespostillart, or on my website: www.postillartworks.com
