Driven by innovation, this is a synthetic brush that offers uncompromising quality and performs at a professional level.
Using their unique brush making expertise, Winsor & Newton now provides artists an innovative alternative: the new Professional Watercolour Synthetic Sable brush range. Available in a range of sizes across seven shapes, this range was curated by artists for artists and handmade at their brush factory in England, which has been producing fine art brushes by hand since the 1850s.
After rigorous artist testing, the best blend of synthetic bristles offers the quality and performance you would typically see in a natural sable brush. The Professional Watercolour Synthetic Sable brush delivers excellent colour carrying capacity, the ability to make a variety of marks and resilient spring and shape retention.
Brush Design Notes
The unique Winsor & Newton sculpted handle with a matt finish provides the ultimate comfort and control while painting. The central dip on this short handled brush allows the brush to sit comfortably in your hand while the second curve of the brush handle allows for different painting positions.
This unique blend of synthetic bristles has been developed to replicate the colour carrying capacity of a natural sable brush. With colour flowing evenly and consistently, the brush allows for flowing brush strokes.
The brush heads snap back into shape during use with the right degree of spring to allow for superior control between brush and surface.
Professional synthetic watercolour brushes praised for quality and performance. Customers said they "float the paint easily" with "silken smooth" fibers that hold paint well. Brushes excel at fine detail work with sharp points. However, one customer found bristles "too soft" and prone to fraying. Most appreciate ergonomic handles and paint release.
Best brush I have ever bought. They just float the paint so easily on the paper.
The fibers are silken smooth, take a lot of paint, and release it on the paper very evenly.
They LOAD water and paint. Sharp point, fairly soft touch. Just lovely.

there is just no substitute when you work with quality tools and materials using these brushes gives almost the same satisfaction as being satisfied with the finished painting

Flimsy--too soft
I purchased several of these brushes and found the bristles to be soft, flimsy, and easily frayed after a few days of light use. I am a beginner artist.
In comparison, I later purchased Escoda Chronos brushes and found those much more firm and better quality. These brushes did not fray after many paintings in comparison to the much worse Windsor and Newton synthetic brushes.
I would never recommend the W&N synthetic brushes after using much better quality brushes.

Winsor & Newton Professional Synthetic Watercolour Brushes are great
I really like the Winsor & Newton Professional brushes. Previously I had ordered the ½” mop and was impressed how well it worked. So this time I ordered more W&N Pro brushes. The fibers are silken smooth, take a lot of paint, and release it on the paper very evenly. Also, the grey handles are very ergonomic.

Good Quality Art Brushes
I've always loved using the Winsor & Newton brushes. As an artist, I believe that I don't need too many brushes to work with. All I need are around 5 types of good quality brushes that I can count on to make beautiful art.

Windsor & Newton Professional Synthetic Watercolour Brushes
Best brush I have ever bought. They are so nice to hold and just float the paint so easily on the paper. With the fine tip, it’s so easy to get in and around objects and small places.

Pro Synthetic Windsor & Newton WC Brushes
Bought No 4, 8 & 12 brushes. They are working great. They have a nice ‘feel’ in the hand and on the paper. They are very receptive to varying watercolour loading. I like them.

The pointed rounds are awsome: they LOAD water and paint. Sharp point, fairly soft touch. Just lovely.
