About the product

Stonehenge Oil Paper Pad 320gsm/140lb 9" x 12"

Stonehenge Oil Pads give oil painters a paper that behaves like a proper ground. The pre-primed surface creates a true oil barrier, keeping paint on the surface and prevents ghosting as layers cure.

The heavyweight cotton base holds its shape under thick applications, scraping, and reworking, staying steady as the paint dries. Color builds cleanly, edges stay defined, and earlier marks stay buried beneath later layers. A subtle, consistent texture offers just enough grip for confident brushwork without disrupting fine detail.

The pad is finished with a durable, UV-printed cover that holds up to handling and adds clear shelf appeal.

hideous paper for acrylics, and all wrong for oil

hideous paper for acrylics, and wrong for oil painting
this stuff instantly balls up and warps with acrylics. The paint simultaneously sucks into the paper, grabbing brush strokes and preventing nice strokes, and also beads up - the worst of both worlds. How is it possible to do that? It has a horrible waxy feel as well. If the paper is wet and you rub it even slightly it balls up and paper shreds. I'd never use it for oils because when dried the paper will bend and the oil will crack, so it's terrible for both mediums
