QoR Masking Fluid is a ready-to-use, removable liquid made with natural latex which may be applied to watercolor paper or watercolor ground before painting.

Once dry, the Masking Fluid will resist paint, allowing watercolor artists to preserve fine details and lines of white paper that might be difficult to paint around in traditional transparent watercolor applications.

It also can facilitate faster creation of overall textures and layers of abstract marks. QoR Masking Fluid works beautifully on all of the QoR Grounds.

QoR Masking Fluid does not need to be diluted, and should not be shaken. The masking fluid is typically dry in ten minutes, thicker applications may take longer.

Great masking fluid

Dries quickly and removes easily. Has never torn my paper (i use 100% cotton)

Masking fluid

Teacher suggested dipping brush in soapy water prior to dipping in QoR masking fluid jar and use designated brush. Maybe the Daniel Smith bottle with the extra nozzles would be cleaner to work with? I noticed another student squirting the fluid on the area. This product is in a small round jar and a bit runnier so mild shaking required prior to using the brush. Otherwise it works and not as strong an odour.

I did my research online and they said this one does not rip the paper on removal and I have to say they were right. I’m very happy with the results using this product. I will definitely buy again ☺️

Does this product clean up the with water?

Hi Richard!

Thank you for your question! QoR Masking Fluid is a latex based resist for water and pigment and doesn't clean up well with just water. To remove it from bristles I will soak my brush bristles in 99% iso alcohol or in mineral oil- both will reactivate the latex and make it easier to pull off your bristles!
