About Your Host

Host image

Bryan Coombes is a BC-based oil painter whose work explores the interplay of light, form, and composition in both natural and manmade environments. He approaches painting as a technical craft and a form of inner exploration. His plein air studies and studio work are grounded in close observation and shaped by a deep respect for the paradox art offers—how simple abstraction can express profound complexity. Bryan aims to evoke memory, presence, and the feeling of being fully awake in the world, both in the act of painting and in the experience of viewing. As a teacher, he encourages artists to follow their curiosity, refine their vision, and stay open to discovery.
