About This Experience

In this demo, Diane Williams will give you a glimpse of the four stages of an oil painting, from a vibrant, simplistic first layer to the refinement of each stage.  She will show how to layer colour on top of colour without premixing, alla prima.

Diane will show how to paint parts of a horse portrait in full spectrum colour without black, grey or brown. Layering the paint onto the canvas rather than premixing on the palette.  Paint will be applied alla prima, wet on wet until finished.

You will learn how to simplify a shape with light and dark and create luminous layers with no mediums, and how to work in layers with a limited palette in vivid colour with pure oil paint, no mediums.  Canola Oil for clean up.
