The easiest way to make large scale prints using the power of the sun!
Pretreated cotton sateen fabric is light-sensitive and comes ready-to-use for sun printing.

Cyanotype is the “original” sun-printing process and one of the earliest photographic techniques ever developed. Discovered in 1842 and well known for producing rich, Prussian blue monochromatic prints, Cyanotype was popular well into the 2th century as an inexpensive method for reproducing photographs, documents, maps and plans.

Harness the power of the sun to make detailed prints from various objects that cast a shadow, such as tools, toys, plants, leaves, stones, sand, string, lace, etc. Simply place the object on the sensitized surface and expose to sunlight (UV).

Alternatively, use a digitally-printed photographic negative (an inverted black and white photo inkjet-printed onto a transparency) instead of an object to create full-resolution photographs on paper or fabric.

Great for photographers, mixed media artists, printmakers, quilters, kids and more, the cyanotype process is easy, forgiving, quick, magical and fun. Capture the nuance of every shadow—a great group activity for any age! LARGE FABRIC 5' X 7'

The key word is "Reliable".

I can always expect to be working with a quality product when I use this. They know what they're doing and that means that consistent and repeatable results are very achievable.
Originally the image were developed using the Sun as your light sourcer, but I use a UV exposure unit and find that with a medium density transparency requires an average exposure of time of about 9 minutes. I use these 8.5"x11" pieces to print my own quilting fabric and the Cotton Sateen is perfect for that. I also like that you aren't restricted to the colour Blue. There are Alternative Photo Techniques using natural Tanins to retone the Prussian Blue into a spectrum of Earth Tones. However my favourite quality about this product is that you can make photographic images with no Darkroom setup required.
