Increase your working time with these slow-drying acrylics, designed specially for working outdoors.
GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics have a unique and relaxed set of working characteristics, expanding the range and techniques possible for acrylic artists. OPEN Acrylics remain wet for much longer than regular acrylics, expanding the time artists have for blending, softening, shading, glazing, and applying fine detail.
The drying time varies on how thickly the paint is applied: thick applications can dry extremely slowly, allowing you to work on your piece for hours. Drying time can be accelerated by mixing OPEN with standard acrylics, or acrylic mediums. Painters can cover their palettes or use sealed containers to use their OPEN Acrylics for more than a single painting session, reducing the amount of paint wasted, and preserving unique colour mixtures.
Use these paints with both synthetic and natural fibres, and expand your range of working options and finishes with OPEN Mediums. Ideal for use with plein air painting, portraiture, monoprinting, and screenprinting.

Highly rated acrylics praised for extended drying time that allows blending and color mixing. Customers said they "feel like oil paints" with compatibility across product lines. Ideal for monoprinting, Gelli printing, and portraiture. One customer noted less opacity than regular acrylics. Popular for landscape and desert painting.

I appreciate two qualities of the Golden Open Acrylics. It is wonderful to be able to have enough 'wet' time to be able to blend in other colours. And, I appreciate that they are compatible with all of the other Golden Acrylic paints so I can choose a fast drying paint when I need that.

GOLDEN OPEN Acrylics
I really like Golden Open. I have been using the Open line for about 14 years. My go to acrylic paint. I prefer the slow drying time, being able to mix my colours on the canvas as well as on the palette. The only downside is that Opus only carries half the Open colour range, but they will special order.

I only started a couple of years ago but they have made painting very enjoyable. You can see my paintings done with them on Instagram @adbkartist. I do all of my work with them and love working with them.

I love Golden OPEN Acrylics
I used to use oil paints, but switched to acrylics when I no longer had studio space. I got used to painting in acrylics, but missed spending time mixing a color pallet. I bought the Golden OPEN landscape set, and I love them. Now I can spend more time mixing my colors, can step away for short periods of time and come back to it. They have all of the benefits of acrylic being easily cleaned up with soap and water, no smell, still dry relatively quickly when spread out on a paint surface, just with less race against time with colors drying out on your pallet.

Do you carry quinacridone gold?
Opus Art Supplies
Hello Norm,
Unfortunately due to pigment industry discontinuations, PO48 used in GOLDEN's Quinacridone/Nickel Azo Gold is no longer available. There are a few remaining in stock in-store at this time, we'd recommend reaching out to your local Opus to see if they have them in-store.
