Experience this classic dry sketching and drawing medium, an artist favourite since its introduction by Conté à Paris, which was established by Nicolas-Jacques Conté in 1795.
These Sketching Carré are artist grade dry square sticks that are slightly harder than soft pastels. They are smooth and manufactured using natural pigments which are finely ground and mixed with kaolin clay and a binder. The resulting crayon falls somewhere between a dry pastel and charcoal.
The traditional colours of Black, White, Sanguine, Bistre, and Grey are made from carbon, chalk, iron oxide, soot from burnt beech wood, and sepia. While most of the crayons in this line are lightfast, some colours may fade over time when exposed to light.
The perfect companion for pastel and charcoal, these crayons can be used in combination with these media, or on their own.
Finish your sketch or drawing with a suitable fixative and a frame to protect your creation.
