About Opus Art Supplies
For more than 50 years, artists have served artists at Opus. We're Canadian-owned and independent, and our mission is to support, grow, and advance the visual arts in our community. Everything we do comes back to four principles: Create, Connect, Grow, Evolve.
The Role
You are the voice of the Opus online store — the first person an artist reaches when they need help choosing a surface, tracking a custom frame, or understanding what their membership actually gets them.
This role suits someone who knows materials, enjoys the consultative side of retail, and finds satisfaction in a well-handled order. If you have a creative practice of your own, even better.
What You'll Do
Be ready at 8:00 AM across chat, email, phone, and app. Manage orders end to end — placement through delivery — and keep financial records accurate for month-end reporting.
Guide artists Give consultative, personalized recommendations. Share the demos, articles, and videos that answer the real question behind the question. Introduce artists to Opus Memberships and show current members the benefits that fit their practice: cashback on the materials they use most, advance notice on new products, and marketing that's actually relevant to what they make.
Know the products Draw on staff training, your own experience, and our product knowledge to make tailored recommendations. Support custom services from first consultation through to finished order and ready-made selections. Flag cross-sell opportunities and work with marketing to keep product descriptions and images correct.
Support the team Take daily priorities from the Customer Experience Coordinator. Direct inquiries to the right department, coordinate breaks around customer volume, and stay aware of stock levels. Team leads may hold keys when the Store Manager or Coordinator is away.
What Success Looks Like

Who We're Looking For
You're trustworthy, organized, and reliable. You listen well, cooperate easily, and want to keep learning. You care about the arts community and want to be part of it.
You'll practise our C.A.R.E. habits in every interaction:
Cultivate — Deepen your product knowledge continuously so your recommendations carry real weight across every channel.
Attention — Watch the details. Order notes, preferences, inventory levels. Every message should be precise and personal.
Responsiveness — Be the reliable voice of Opus. Timely on chat, email, and phone, from first click to delivery.
Empathy — Behind every order is someone making something — framing a piece, choosing a gift, starting a practice. Treat each interaction as a chance to build a connection.
What We Offer
After a three-month probationary period:
Extended health and dental coverage (Canada Life)
Paid vacation starting at two weeks (4% of gross wages), increasing with tenure
$300 annual Personal Development Allowance after one year — for courses outside Opus: painting, pottery, yoga, whatever grows your practice
Generous staff discounts on products and services
RRSP Payroll Deduction Program, with a 10% company contribution after five years
Long-term Recognition Awards starting at $500 after five years
How to Apply
