Achieve great serti technique on your silk fabrics with Pébéo’s Water-Based Gutta.
Apply this Gutta paste directly from the tube onto silk fabrics to create a barrier between colours. This is known as the serti technique, used to create your design outlines on pre-washed, dried, and stretched silk.
The water-based colours dry opaque with a pearl finish, and are resistant to hand and machine washing on a delicate cycle. The colourless should be used as a resist, as it is designed to wash out to reveal the original silk colour.
Instructions:
Air-dry for approximately 3 minutes prior to filling in with Pébéo Setacolor (or other silk-compatible fabric dye). To finish, use an iron, on the cotton setting with no steam, for 5 minutes on the reverse side of the fabric. 48 hours after fixing, the colours will be resistant to hand and machine washing (on a delicate cycle). If using the colourless Gutta, it will wash out in water to reveal the original silk material beneath.
