Work your way with wax-based watercolour paints.

Ceracolor watercolour paints are ideal for the artist looking to work in a wide range of painting techniques. The beeswax base allows for thick impasto layers and encaustic painting techniques. Ceracolors' unique water-soluble formulation means they also can be handled just like a traditional watercolour paint or gouache.

The current range of Ceracolor paints are available in 50 ml aluminum tubes.

Supplies To Consider

Tools: Any of your watercolour paint brushes can be used to work with Ceracolors in thin layers. For encaustic techniques, sculpting tools like palette knives and scrapers can be useful. Heated palettes or tools are can be used, but are not necessary to work with Ceracolors.

Surfaces: Rigid supports such as wood panels are ideal for wax painting techniques. For other painting techniques, other supports can be utilized, such as (but not limited to) canvas, watercolour paper, ceramic, metal, or plastic.

Cleaning: For clean up, standard soap and water can be used for most brushes and equipment. For stubborn dried paint, household ammonia can be used.

How Ceracolors Dry

Ceracolors dry in two stages. Initially, the paint dries rapidly from water evaporation, meaning it will be touch dry quite quickly. At this stage, the paint can still be reworked with a wet brush.

After several days the paint will begin to cure, and the wax crystals will coalesce. This can take several weeks for thicker layers of paint.
