R&F Pigment Sticks with Melanie Delgado
About This Experience
This virtual demonstration will showcase how R&F Pigment Sticks enable artists to explore both traditional and alternative painting methods using oil. These sticks allow for immediate and fluid application directly onto various surfaces. Artist Melanie Delgado will explain what Pigment Sticks are and provide health and safety guidelines for their use, including proper disposal of oil-soaked rags and paper towels. She will also discuss suitable supports and tools, the differences between transparent and opaque Pigment Sticks, surface building techniques, mono-printing, image transfer, and mark-making.

About Your Host

Born in 1977 in Morristown, New Jersey, abstract painter Melanie Delgado resides in upstate New York. She landed in Woodstock after a full-time residency at the Byrdcliffe Artist Colony in 2014. Melanie has been instructing at the Woodstock School of Art since 2015. She feels lucky to live in a thriving art community just a few miles from where her favorite art material is made, the R&F Handmade Paint factory in Kingston. She’s been using their pigment sticks for the last 10 years. She is preparing for two exhibitions: a two-person show this spring and a solo one this summer. Melanie can be found with her young daughter or attending art events in the area when she isn't busy teaching or painting in her home studio.
