Painting using Palette Knives with Viena Wroblewska
Oil PaintingAbout This Experience
During this demonstration, Viena will show how to paint a portrait using palette knives on a pre-painted background with a very limited colour palette. Working from a monochromatic reference photo, she will explain her colour choices, which harmonize to create an exciting and bold composition. Students will learn to recognize the intrinsic values of colours and how to create and utilize various shades of grey. Throughout the painting process, Viena will restrict herself to using only two palette knives. She will discuss the necessary techniques, blending methods, and the fundamentals of using this adventurous tool, allowing for plenty of surprises and a relaxed approach to painting.
