Membership is completely optional. That said, the Base tier is free and starts earning cash back immediately — there's genuinely no reason not to join.
Same benefits, different paths. The Artist Pass ($35/yr) is a separate annual subscription that gives you Level 3 Artist benefits immediately — no spend threshold. The Artist tier (Level 3) unlocks automatically when you spend $1,000 in a calendar year, reassessed on your tier anniversary date. If you're already buying regularly at Opus, the Artist Pass pays for itself at $350 spend.

No refund is issued. The Artist Pass is an annual subscription that renews automatically each year until you cancel — it does not expire on its own. If you cancel and your annual spend qualifies for Level 3 Artist tier, you'll need to rejoin the free Base membership on this page. Your spend-based tier is then reassessed on your tier anniversary date.
