Love the quality of the material with the deep

Love the quality of the material and the deep black needed for the project. As dark as charcoal without the mess. Consistent throughout so no unfortunate surprises. I'm a repeat customer - started with a set and love the ability to buy the individual pencil (8B) as I wear them out.

First I hated them, now I love them

I was looking for a pencil that reduced graphite sheen. I came across these and purchased some. At first I was "What is this scratchy nonsense?!" and threw the pencil in a drawer for about a week. I decided to give them another try out of the kindness of my heart and then fell in love. Sometimes it's all about adjusting your expectations on what an art material is your dreams and what it actually is, just being itself.
These pencils are like a cross between a graphite pencil and a carbon pencil. I only use the 8B, which is the softest grade, and it is very matte black with little sheen. They are mostly waterproof, without being waxy, making them ideal to use with watercolours or ink washes. I especially like them for rendering grungy, urban scenes.
They may feel dry and scratchy, but don't we all feel that way sometimes.

Through difficulty to the heights.

after great trouble getting this item, I now need time to really experiment with it, but so far, it seems good.
