Customers praised these canvas pads as "great for planning and doing mini studies" with excellent texture and value. Shoppers appreciate the reasonable price, ease of use, and versatility for oils, sketches, and experimentation. However, one customer reported receiving sheets with creases throughout an entire pad, and some noted the surface is very toothy, requiring gesso.

  • Perfect for experimenting or doing outdoor sketches. One of my favourite products!
  • The quality of the canvas sheets is the best!
  • The texture is really nice, particularly for oils. Tape releases really cleanly.

Great for planning and doing mini studies of my paintings

Great for planning and doing mini studies of my paintings. The weave texture of the pad helps me see what it will look like on the stretched canvas. Easy to use and tear off.

Great paper and tape friendly

I bought two canvas pads when I first tried this substrate out -- this brand and Winsor Newton. I liked the feel of both, I tried out the WN one first. However I'm so disappointed in the quality of the WN one (even though it was double the price of the Sinoart one) -- any tape applied to the WN canvas paper to stick it to your backing board or easel, no matter what kind of tape, no matter how little time it's on (like even a half hour) -- it will tear the paper underneath and sometimes beyond. Every time, no matter how lightly you apply the tape and how carefully you peel it off. It's so frustrating, as the quality of the texture and paper is nice. So I was really pleased that the Sinoart paper doesn't do that at all, the tape releases really cleanly no matter how long it's been on for (I've only tried tape that was on about a week or two). The texture is really nice (particularly for oils, as shown in the image). I really enjoy working on the Sinoart paper, especially as I know the edges won't be ruined when I remove the tape.

Love these canvas sheets

Love these canvas sheets. They are perfect for experimenting or doing outdoor sketches. I cut them into smaller sheets and use them for sketching before starting a larger canvas. I can glaze, scumble, and build texture on them even. One of my favourite products!

Canvas Pad

The canvas pad is what I expected although it is very toothy and I find a need to Gesso the sheets before use.
Even though I mostly use the sheets for studies, sometimes I want a quick small surface and have come up with some pieces that I’m happy to keep and frame.
I feel the canvas pad is a good value for the dollar.

Great for students!

Good student quality canvas. Recommend taping individual canvas page to a board so edges don’t curl. I buy the largest size and can cut my canvases to whatever size I need. Completed paintings can be glued to panel for framing.

I wasted my money

Absolutely love this product but the last bunch had every single sheet with a crease! Isl simply cannot afford this possibility again. A complete waste of money, the whole pad!

Inexpensive and Serviceable

I like the Sinoart pad because it is the least expensive large canvas pad where I can try out various techniques in my studio before committing to larger versions. I use the pads for plein air sketches. Light weight, easy to store and sturdy.

Never tried canvas paper before so have nothing to compare it to. The first few pages are difficult to separate from the pad. Nice to not have to gesso paper. It was expensive (to me) but it was the cheaper of the two choices.
