Professional-grade watercolour paper highly praised by artists for decades. Customers said it's "fabulous to work with" with excellent absorbency and durability. The 300lb weight prevents buckling during wet washes and handles multiple layers well. Artists appreciate the lifting capability and deep colour results. Some concern about rising prices.

  • Truly a fabulous piece of paper to work with!
  • I love the absorbency, I can still work with layers of colour and the paper holds up.
  • Using this watercolour paper gave me deeper colour than other paper.

Arches Watercolour Paper Cold Press 300lb is my paper!!

Since Graduating from Art School in 1989, Arches watercolour paper has been the paper I prefer. Now some many years later I continue to use Arches paper, usually a full sheet of 300lb cold press. I know exactly how it will take my watercolour paints and continue to love the results! To help support my art career I teach watercolour, always suggesting, to buy the art supplies you can afford, but to know that higher priced quality paper like Arches will lead to wonderful outcomes that you will be happier with.

The only stuff I buy

I start most of my washes really faint and the way I often work any lighter weight of paper would have buckled permanently.

ARCHES is a good water colour paper.

ARCHES is a good water colour paper. I purchased it in the sheet size to consolidate my colour swatches. Yes I’m one of ‘those’ who can’t resist purchasing another colour in another medium. I got so many swatches that I needed a big piece of paper to contain them.
I choose ARCHES sheets because I’m use to and pleased with the results I get, as a beginner, with their blocks.
Now I need the time and the will to get going on the swatching project….it will likely be an on going one.

Arches paper.

I love the absorbency of Arches paper, I can still work with layers of colour and the paper holds up. I’ve been using Arches for over 30 years.

Strong and takes colour very well

I use Arches 300 lb cold press for my watercolours. I can stretch it wet with little problem and tape it to my wood board. The tape (simple blue paint tape) prevents any seepage onto the canvas underneath. The paper is durable and I scrape it, sand it, and put on several washes at a time. It absorbs the paint well where I want it and for me it is the perfect medium.

The Best

I have yet to find any paper that is better. Just the right amount of absorption.
Allows for lifting.

Arches paper

I only use Arches paper because I love the bright white and the textures of both hot and cold press. It’s starting to price out of my reach right now!

Arches purchase review!

I have found using Arches watercolour paper gave me deeper colour than other paper. The paint works more with wet on wet also. Thanks. Helena
