This is a very rugged surface

This is a very rugged surface. I applied 2 additional layers of gamblin oil ground hoping it will even out the very gnarly texture. Didn't work. I will never purchase again.

I did not realize that the clear gesso priming would be such a slow gritty surface

I did not realize that the clear gesso priming would have such a slow, gritty surface. Very slow surface more suitable for pastel or charcoal drawing, not oil painting as the paint just could not be made to flow across the surface. Also I was sad to see that after several sessions the paint was showing through the reverse side of the surface, and so I will not finish the painting as it is very likely not archival. I had thought this was triple primed. Will not purchase again.
