The story behind R&F Pigment Sticks

Lipstick-soft oil paint you hold in your hand.

R&F Handmade Paints was founded in Kingston, New York, in 1988 by Richard Frumess. Its Pigment Sticks are made from just the traditional essentials: natural wax, linseed oil and pigment.

They let you paint directly onto your surface, blending the immediacy of drawing with the depth of oil. Each colour is formulated to honour the character of its pigment.

Try it in the studio

Peel back the skin that forms on the tip, then draw directly. Blend with a palette knife or a brush dipped in a little solvent-free medium.
