This workshop takes place at the home of David van Berckel, owner of Opus Art Supplies. Sheree will share her extensive knowledge with you through informative demonstrations, printed handouts and lively discussions. Her energetic and fun loving spirit will inspire you to enjoy your day creating and experimenting in a relaxed and supportive environment.

This workshop is designed for intermediate oil and acrylic painters, and is perfect for the studio painter looking to “take it outdoors”, and plein air painters who would like to take their work to the next level. Painting on location is the best way to record your observations in any environment. You will spend the day in the garden making small plein air studies while recording the magic of your surroundings. There will be plenty of one on one instruction with time for positive and encouraging conversation.

Discover Sheree's tips and techniques on:

  • How to keep it simple.
  • How to edit a scene and create a solid composition.
  • The importance of a thumbnail and value sketch.
  • Colour mixing with a limited palette.
  • What equipment to use and how to pack light.
  • How to keep a sense of humour in potentially challenging environments.

Your morning will begin with Sheree's introductory demonstration of how to start a painting with an emphasis on composition & colour mixing. Students will then scout their own locations, and begin their small sketches for the layout of their painting(s).

After lunch, you will continue working on-site with your paintings, as Sheree moves from student to student assisting each with their work. The theme of the day is to have fun, enjoy & create… no masterpieces are expected!

This workshop is limited to 10 participants so don't delay, register today!
