About This Experience

Join Kristen Brown in this demonstration, and learn about blending, glazing, and overlapping techniques that she uses to create feelings of nostalgia, fragmentation, and dreamlike atmospheres indicative of memory and place. Kristen will share tips on cultivating a regular art practice despite a busy lifestyle. She will discuss tips for a studio setup, pre-mixing colours, scheduling time to paint, and more. Kristen will highlight using fast-drying mediums, such as Liquin, to optimize time.

Kristen Brown is a San Francisco-based painter originally from Saskatchewan. She has exhibited at the de Young Museum, San Francisco Arts Commission, Joyce Gordon Gallery, and CICA Museum in South Korea, among others. Kristen has received grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation in Montreal. Kristen’s work has been featured in Fresh Paint Magazine (now Create Magazine), RELISH Magazine, Art Maze Magazine, and elsewhere. She holds a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Saskatchewan and an MFA in Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
