Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge 2021
Let’s Explore The World Around Us
Join the Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge and get immersed into the plein air painting season! This event is an important practice in sharing our creativity with others in our neighbourhoods, inviting all to see nature spring to life on our participants’ canvases.
From those just beginning to explore their creativity to seasoned plein air artists, this challenge is an exciting and enjoyable way to share enthusiasm for the arts with your community, create in the outdoors, meet new people, and win great prizes. Participants are invited to work in any medium they wish, using acrylics or oils, watercolour, pencil, collage, or all of the above.
This year’s Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge is self directed, and takes place from July 15–25, giving participants 11 days (with 2 weekends!) to complete the challenge.
Here’s how to join the Opus Outdoor Painting Challenge:
Pack your outdoor painting/drawing materials and head out with your family, bubble of friends, or on your own and spend an afternoon (or more) painting en plein air. Then post photos along with the story of your outdoor painting experience on Instagram (or use our entry form to submit). Great photos of your day would include your painting location, your supplies set up, yourself and any art buddies who joined you, your progress shots, and your finished piece.
Did we mention that there are prizes?
Our Sponsors have generously donated over $10,000 in prizes! By participating in our online gallery you will be entered for a chance to win art supplies, gift cards and more! Each post with the #opusopc2021 that includes a story about your day and photos of your plein air painting experience will be considered an entry to win. We welcome (and encourage) Instagram stories as well, but are not able to include those as entries to win.
HOW IT WORKS
Pack up your best plein air kit and head out to your favourite location.
Document yourself painting out doors. Take photos of your setup, location, progress, and final creation.
