Heather Aston is a full time printmaker/painter that works out of her home studio and Dundarave Print Workshop on Granville Island. Born and raised in West Vancouver she graduated in 1971 from The Vancouver School of Art (Emily Carr University) with Honours in Printmaking. In 1990 she studied at the Santa Reparata Institute in Florence, Italy where she fell in love with the immediacy and spontaneity of monotypes. In 2001 she received a Canada Council Travel Grant to go to Yokohama, Japan where she was artist in residence at the OM Printmaking Studio there.

In 2006 she returned to Japan as guest speaker/artist for the openings in Nagasaki and Kochi of the Trilateral Exhibition: a three year travelling exhibition of selected works from 65 printmakers from Japan, Holland, and Canada.

Recent exhibitions include "Intersections" at the Grand Forks Gallery; Gallery 2 and the Surrey Art Centre with the Full Circle Art Collective and The Ferry Building in West Vancouver with the Dundarave Printmakers (a juried group show). In March 2014 she will exhibit a solo show at Dundarave Print Workshop on Granville Island titled "There is No Still Life".

She also teaches printmaking courses and workshops in local communities, studios, schools and other educational institutions and is represented in collections in Canada, the U.S., Japan, Europe, Australia and Europe.
