Federation of Canadian Artists

The Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) is a community of artists and art lovers. Its mission is to share and promote the passion and pleasure of the visual arts through exhibition, education and communication.

Founded in 1941 by a group of influential artists, including Group of Seven luminary, Lawren Harris, it continues to operate as a non-profit organization with chapters throughout Canada. Dedicated to its aim of gradually raising the artists’ standards by stimulating participants to greater heights of achievement, it opened what is believed to be the first completely artists sponsored gallery workshop studio in Canada. The Federation Gallery on Granville Island, Vancouver, BC features bi-monthly exhibits by emerging and signature artists plus sponsors a much anticipated international juried exhibit‚ Painting on the Edge‚ each August. An extensive education program invites first time and advance artists to explore and expand their talents through lectures and courses in drawing, mixed-media and oil, acrylic and water color painting. The FCA welcomes visitors and students and encourages membership among all that seek to nurture and appreciate art.

The FCA is funded through membership dues, its education program, painting and other retail sales, government and foundation grants as well as corporate and member donations. Donations can be made in person, by mail or by telephone and a charitable tax receipt is issued for all donations. The FCA is a registered charity, No.118913920RR0001.
