I'm an Architect-Urban designer . My interest in the arts was fostered in Mexico in the fine art studios of Professor Jesus Gallardo, where I studied drawing, watercolour painting and metal etching. My formative professional years were spent in the hearts of Guanajuato and San Miguel Allende where I lived, studied and practiced architecture for 14 years. The influences of these two towns created the foundations of my artistic development.

After moving to Vancouver in 1976, I taught in the design studios in the School of Architecture at UBC for 5 years. My work in architecture & urban design has allowed me to travel to North & South America, Asia and Europe. These travels have influenced my artistic visions, particularly Italy where I have painted and taught courses in Plein Air painting in Venice every summer since 1999.

Painting and sketching “En Plein Air” are the foundations for artists to see, feel, smell and touch the reality of the amazing world in which we live. My professional interest in townscapes and where they intertwine with nature are the sources of my inspiration. My work looks at the traditional models of the 17th Century “I Vedutisti” in their vistas of cityscapes; the improvisation of painting outdoors, as in the 19th Century works of Turner, Whistler, Sargent; and the impressionist works of Monet and Sorolla.
