A demonstration of how a Nag Hammadi Codex is constructed using non-leather, contemporary materials. Nag Hammadi codices (books) were discovered in 1945 by farmers in Egypt. They are 13 leather-bound volumes of 50 early Christian texts written in the mid-300 A.D. The bookbinding structure of this codex (single quire codex) helped to protect invaluable knowledge for over 1,500 years.
