Painting Acrylic Nocturnes with Sawyer Anderson

Location:
Granville Island
Sun, February 10, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Sun, February 10, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Sawyer will be walking attendees through the process of painting night time scenes (nocturnes) in acrylics by relating his experiences in self-teaching.

He will be focusing on the way night time skews vision, providing a space for the artist to insert their own impressions. Through the use of a limited palette, interpreting reference material, expressive brushwork, creating tension, and the otherworldly potential of night time, Sawyer will share his experience with acrylics and help attendees find their own voice through paint.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Granville Island or contact them at 604‑736‑7028 to register.

Working between analog and digital mediums, Sawyer Anderson is a mixed media illustrator and fourth-year student at Emily Carr University of Art & Design. His practice explores narrative, consciousness, and the making of meaning. Through lenses of scientific inquiry, narrative fiction and nonfiction, and attentiveness to non-hegemonic and more-than-human ways of knowing, he interrogates identity formation and human interaction.
