Developing Your Own Unique Art Style with Priscilla Yu

Granville Island
Sat, April 28, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Sat, April 28, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Join Priscilla as she shares her journey as an artist, and how using a stylistic constraint early on in her work has helped her to develop her own illustration style.

Priscilla’s non-linear way of producing ideas can help to access imagery and ideas that may be in your subconscious mind, and can help to create a unique art style that is personal to you! She will also go over some exercises and illustration prompts as a starting point for drawing to get you started in this self-discovery as a growing artist.

Space is limited and registration is required.
Please visit Opus Granville Island or contact them at 604‑736‑7028 to register.

Priscilla Yu is an artist, illustrator, and muralist. Her colourfully painted worlds dwell in a strange gravity, where the rules of physics are stretched, and the inhabitants are adorned with elaborate clothing and large open windows for eyes.

Since graduating from Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a BFA in 2013, Priscilla has exhibited work in Los Angeles, Chicago, and all over Vancouver, including exhibitions at TEDx Vancouver, BAF, Ayden Gallery, Kafka’s, YVR Airport, a collaboration with local shoe gallery, Six Hundred Four, and a mural for Vancouver Mural Festival in 2017. Her work has also been featured on Booooooom, Upper Playground, Uppercase Magazine, The Georgia Straight Magazine, Narcity Vancouver, and The Daily Hive: Vancouver.
