This annual art tour of Vancouver is organized by the Vancouver Island School of Art is a great way to get to know where to see art in Vancouver and learn how to access the city via public transit, including getting from Victoria to downtown Vancouver. We take the 9am ferry on Saturday morning and then head directly to Emily Carr University
. We have lunch in the cafeteria (they have great food!) and then we do a short tour of the school including looking at the work in the galleries. We then walk to the nearby galleries (Equinox
, Monte Clark
, Grunt Gallery
, MacCauley Fine Art
, Chernoff Fine Art
and Gallery Jones)
. From there we take the bus to the Rennie Museum
in Chinatown for a 3:30pm tour of the newly installed exhibition including works of Barkley L. Hendricks
and Lorna Simpson
After the Rennie Museum, we head to Gastown for a dinner at the Flying Pig
. After dinner people can check out into hotels and meet later for a night viewing at 9pm of the Spinning Chandelier
under the Granville Bridge.
