In this demonstration, Mission artist and educator Kathy Baker demonstrates how to paint the portrait in watercolour while working from a photographic source. She will show her techniques for transferring a drawing to watercolour paper, and delve into wash techniques, negative painting, masking fluid, and the use of a ruling pen to preserve fine whites.

Kathy Baker lives and works in Mission, BC, where she taught high school and Advanced Placement art. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and was recently selected to show in the International Watercolor Society’s first Canadian Biennale and the Canada 150 exhibit.
