PAINTING THE CLOTHED FIGURE

March 28, 2020

Description

In this course, you will learn how to paint realistic clothed figures in space. Emphasis will be placed on painting folds in fabric, painting different types of fabric (eg. velvet, denim, silk, etc), accurately translating how the clothing and figure interact, and capturing a convincing space that the figure inhabits. In working from both the live model and reference materials, you will create finished portrait paintings in the alla prima technique, starting with a detailed underpainting and then using a ‘tiling’ technique to achieve a complex and nuanced final figure painting.
