Find the beauty in a cloudy day! Originally from the coast, Gabrielle often paints grey rainy days, however since relocating to the Okanagan, she has found new inspiration in those luscious clouds that frequent our skies. Join Gabrielle as she demonstrates the various techniques she use to achieve these cloudscapes with acrylic paint.
A graduate of Emily Carr University, Gabrielle’s practice is split between painting and ceramics and she is interested in mining the ways in which they intersect. Following graduation, she dove into a seven-month Artist Residency at the Vernon Community Arts Centre through the Caetani Cultural Centre’s CeramAiR Program, which ultimately led her to make the Okanagan her home permanently. Recently she was awarded a major public art commission by the City of Vernon to commemorate Canada’s 150th anniversary, whereby Gabrielle enlisted the community to help create a 48 meter winding river mosaic which was installed last summer in Vernon’s Cenotaph Park.
