Join Erica Hawkes and learn about the process of becoming a gallery artist!
In this demonstration, Erica Hawkes will be showing her process of creating a painting from start to finish. She will be showing sketchbooks of her process and will be discussing what it takes to be a gallery artist and some tips for anybody interested in pursuing a career in this field. She will talk about composition, color, and how to balance a picture. Find out what to leave in and what to take out. For the last 20 minutes of each class, Erica will be taking questions about what being a gallery artist involves and how to prepare a portfolio.
My name is Erica Hawkes, I am a gallery artist currently residing in the beautiful Okanagan with my husband and two kids. I grew up in Northern BC, Canada, so nature in all its glory was a good fit for me. I have worked in a variety of mediums and a variety of venues as an artist – photography, portraits, teaching and book illustration to name a few. I studied and earned a degree in fashion designing but my heart was always with sketching, painting and colors. I became a gallery artist in 2011 when Martina at Tutt st. Gallery saw my potential and gave me a chance! Thanks Martina. It has been an amazing adventure and I am so blessed to paint for a living.
